Frequently asked questions...
Where is the run?
The course run begins and ends at the Great South Bay YMCA, and runs through the village of Brightwaters.
Can I organize a Team?
Unfortunately our timing company cannot accommodate this. However you can organize a team amongst yourselves if you'd like.
Can I bring my child in a stroller?
Unfortunately, for safety reasons we cannot allow someone pushing a stroller to run competitively. For the same reasons, we ask you to leave bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, and scooters at home However, we encourage you to still join us; simply allow the competitive runners to get started, then join in at a more leisurely pace.
Where is the money going?
Our mission is to aid in research, prevention, and treatment. This past year we gave money to several organizations, each of which fulfills one or more of those criteria. The organizations include the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the Islip Breast Cancer Coalition, Local Families in Need and Judi Shesh Memorial Scholarship.
How can I volunteer?
While the YMCA provides us with a tremendous amount of support, the people you see working at the race are all volunteering their time. We need help on race day, as well as the day before, for set-up, registrations, and clean-up. If you are interested, please contact us at info@judisrun.org with your phone number or email address, and a committee member will contact you.
We are also always looking for year-round support. If you have skills in organizing, fundraising, event planning, or publicity that you are willing to share with us, please contact us at info@judisrun.org.
How do I register?
You can register ahead of time by printing out the form from this website. Brochures are also available at the Great South Bay YMCA or at many of the local businesses. Simply send the completed form with the fee to us at P.O. Box 505, Bay Shore, New York 11706.
Participants who register before the deadline can pick up their number and t-shirt at the Y on Friday, June 3, or between 6:30 and 8:30am on the day of the race. We encourage you to do this ahead of time to avoid long lines and confusion on race day, especially if you are running competitively. (We also love to see everyone arrive in their pink shirts!)
Why do you want to know my age?
We'd ask you to please fill out all the information requested on the form - this is so that those who are running competitively will be placed in the proper category. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, male and female, in a number of age categories. Therefore it is important that we have the correct information, and you and everyone in your family wear the number and chip that has been assigned to you.
