In honor of Judi Shesh, each year almost 1,000 participants take to the streets of Bay Shore and Brightwaters to fight for a cure and to celebrate the spirit of a truly remarkable woman. Watching as a swarm of people, clad in bright pink shirts, walk or run for this phenomenal woman, who touched countless lives, is always overwhelming.

Most of the participants in this run are residents of Bay Shore who come back year after year in support of our cause, and to honor JudiÕs memory. The board members of the Judi Shesh Memorial Foundation recognized this, and wanted to find another way to give back to the community that was so helpful to Judi and her family during her struggle with this disease, and later by helping us raise funds to help others in the community and for research to help find a cure for this terrible disease.

The board is therefore happy to present the Judi Shesh Memorial Scholarship. All Bay Shore High School seniors who are planning to attend an accredited 4 year university or college are eligible and are invited to submit an application. The application includes an essay as well as a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator.

The essay must be a minimum of 250 words and answer the following questions:

How have you been personally affected by breast cancer?
In what way will this experience affect your choices in the future?
